At the following link you'll find a "Petition to Save Kalaeloa Raceway Park".  We're asking for your help and support in gathering signatures via the following request:

"We the undersigned petition the Hawaiian Homes Commission and the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands to
preserve the race track set up by SORT LLC because it is unique and there is no other race track available on the
island of Oahu and there is no other place to bring Hawaiian and other youths at risk to teach them automobile
and truck mechanics, suspensions and body and fender dynamics and repairs and the taking away of this facility
and training area will irreparably harm these children and teenagers in both the Hawaiian community and the
community at large. We respectfully request the Hawaiian Homes Commission to reconsider its past action taken
on June 16, 2014 and hold another public meeting where we can attend and give testimony about the value of this
facility."

May Hula-X Results! Get ready for June 12th!

Hello HulaCrossers!

It was another fantastic weekend on a track that was made for speed and huge jumps!  Our fellow competitor, Robert Young, was the creator of May's track configuration...with wide open turns, huge straights, and a brand new double-danger jump!  This jump gave our racers a chance to pick their poison as they either went for the tall, cresting dirt jump or the lower but more damaging log jump!  The turns were so wide, we had 3 to 4 cars across in some areas, which proved for some very exciting side-by-side racing.  In addition to HulaCross, we also had some spectacular special events in the form of Rally Rigs and the always satisfying, Demoliton Derby!

The day started off with a photo & video frenzy as we welcomed a new host of media volunteers...I'd like to welcome Larry Johnson, Teddy Biesecker, Nick Latulip to the team and thank them for taking the time to come out and help record all of this.  We've got some great photos already up, and some incredible footage coming soon!  For now, please click on the Photos tab on the navigation bar above to view our gallery of photos on Facebook.  We put up at the minimum, 200 photos from every event up on this page.  Check it out and enjoy all the great action!

As the competitors lined up for the first minutes of practice, we had a great new field of competitors at the table.  We had over 30+ entrants for the event, including Joyn Reyno, Brad & Peter Hook, Carey Nakagawa, Rene Cadiz, Glenn Matas Jr., Kevin Miyamoto, John Schuman, Chauncy Pia, Tatum Bautista, and the Young family.  Also on hand and pushing the pedal to the floor from the get-go was Bungi Grace, fresh off his deployment.  We'd like to thank him for his service and also give him a big "WOW" on some of the huge jumps he pulled off.  He tortured his truck literally, and had several damaging, solid impacts that resulted in having to pull out for repairs.  The crowd loved every bit of it.

Mentioned previously, we had several new competitors driving our Hulabeaters.  For the unknowing, we rent junkyard beaters for $200...this includes your run card of $50, which basically means we rent the entire vehicle for $150.  Now to fill you in, these are straight from the junkyard, heading for the scrap-heap cars...so this means that you can go all out in the car as much as you'd like to...whether you make it to the end of the day running a beater like this is a luck of the draw. 

Regardless, it's a car, and you're allowed to beat the snot out of it however you would like to.  We had about 5 rentals out on the track...sad to say, only one of them made it to the finals, but before that there was some impressive racing going on with them.  Most notable was Brad Hook who literally made a Saturn fly on his first jump off the table top.  In addition, a Cadillac ended up being one of the surprising rentals of the day.  Although it looked like a boat, you couldn't miss some of the spectacular, smoke-filled carnage that behemoth laid out.

Moving on directly into the Time Attack portion of HulaCross, we've noticed that the field has really started to close-up in regard to their times.  Some of the earlier events had huge swathes of over 30 seconds difference...we're happy to report that even with the beaters on hand, that time gap has come down to around 20 seconds for the last place finisher.  And even with the seriously different amount of vehicles we have on-hand, the faster in the groups are within 1-5 seconds. That's pretty tight for a mud-filled course that's slippery and hard to garner traction on.

Leading the charge in a newly-modified Subaru STi that is starting to look straight out of Mad Max, Mike Ward once again proved that he is the man to beat.  Blasting ahead with the fastest time ever recorded on our modifiable HulaCross track, Mike pulled out a 35.24 second run that absolutely demolished any chance the other competitors had at taking the 1st place podicum.  Ahead by nearly a full 3 seconds, Mike is setting the standard each time he comes out, and we're happy to see he's in it to win it.  The guy even comes out to our Sand Drag events...we need more people like him!

And luckly for us, we do...Davin Kubo destroyed TWO...yes, count'em TWO vehicles on our course this event.  Dav went out in his normally dependable Subaru WRX and grenaded it after only a few laps.  Then he pulled out his RallyCross prepped Toyota All-Trac and destroyed it as well.  Luckily for him, Peter Crouch came to his rescue and provided a donor car, Peter's "new" Subaru Legacy.  Dav is an accomplished and frequent competitor...he races anything and anywhere and his driver skill proved it by taking an unfamiliar car and placing second with a 38.09!  Incredible.

Continuing the dedicated trend was Team Randy's NAPA Service.  Landon Paras pulled third place with an amazing display of smoke and sound as his radically altered turbo Integra tore up the track with a time of 38.17, just barely missing second place by a fraction.  Randall Char followed up with another successful Time Attack in his mirror image #351 Integra with a time of 39.44.  More and more, it's becoming increasiingly obvious that AWD or FWD are the way to go...these guys are putting out the fast laps each and every time.

Peter Crouch once again showed his mettle by returning to the field with his previously mentioned Subaru.  He showed his worth busting out an incredibly quick 39.56 proving if you have a choice of weapons, you can't go wrong with a Subie.  Cy Thomas, a stalwart competitor, wowed the crowd with his trademark, mud-throwing powerslides. Cy's skill behind the wheel is clearly evident and his style of driving is loved by the crowd...it almost reminds myself of Drift Session.  Balls to the wall, full-on power drifting the turns, Cy threw out a 41.84 to set the standard for the RWD vehicles.

Next in line with the fastest times were a mixture of old and new entries that peppered the field with varying times, including Jayce young, frequent competitor Andrew Char in his blazing fast Suzuki Sidekick, Tatum Bautista, Chauncy Pia, and one of the best looking vehicles driven in the field by Steven Chong.  Gilbert Valdez continually improves his VW Corrado...each time it comes out, it's faster and more impressive looking.  John Flores proved a Kia Sophia can compete and the rest of the field threw in spectacular times that set the upcoming heats for Wheel2Wheel.

Wheel2Wheel was beyond exciting...it was incredible.  We had 4 separate heats at this event, including what looks like the beginning of an all truck category.  Once we pick up more entrants, we'll be looking forward to breaking up the field into different categories, but for now, the constant action will definitely work.  For the uninformed, our intial heats run 5 laps with the final main consisting of 12.  We took the top 3 vehicles from each heat to make up the final main.

For the first heat, Mike Ward again proved his dominance.  We have got to give it to this guy...he takes a licking, and keeps on ticking.  After getting beat-up in the last event, Mike came back with what looked almost like a battering ram (it isn't, but I have to make the big shiny comparison) and a protected exterior of welded metal that looked straight outta the A-Team.  Taking the initial lead after a shotgun start, he pulled away and was uncatchable.  Landon Paris came through the field smoothly, staying ahead of third place, Peter Crouch, for the entire race.

Peter was able to stay firmly in third while avoiding the fierce battle for 4th. Randall Char pulled out an upset against Cy Thomas after trading places twice within the 5 lap race.  Randall tried valiantly to catch up to Peter, but was unable to due to Peter's AWD power.  Jayce Young really showed everyone how to drive a Caddy as he punished it continuously throughout the event until finally finishing last.  In a huge Caddy, you can't really ask for more than just being able to finish the race but it certainly was something to watch out for.

The second heat brought the mid-pack group together including some of the heavy hitters, Tatum Bautista and David Rodrigues in their Jeep Cherokees.  This was truly the most exciting heat race of them all.  Tatum immediately jumped out in front of Andrew Char, who was in his comparitively miniscule Suzuki Sidekick.  This thing looks amazing as he's fully modified the vehicle...with radiator and battery mounted in the back and not even a hood to cover the engine.  Although small, Andrew threw the thing around like it was a nitrious powered slot car and took Tatum out in the third corner, passing him with his quick and nimble ride for 1st place. 

Tatum Bautista had a frustrating race...what started out as a strong race for him eventually was eroded as he was given a pit by David Rodrigues who then took second place until the end of the race.  Tatum went on to spin once more  within the same lap against the machinations of Brad Hook who once again helped Tatum go around the world in a quick 180 degrees.    John Flores put in one of the more spectacular drives as he lost two places on the start but slowly battled his way up to third place after several mis-steps by his competitors. His Kia Sophia once again proved that FWD do great on this course. 

Gilbert Valdez was in third place at the initial start of the race, but took a massive jump that allowed David Rodrigues and John Flores to capitalize on his position overtaking him in the first corner.  Gilbert was able to make ground reclaiming his lost positions as well and finished 4th in this heat, just missing making it to the final main.

  

New to the event were Brad Hook and Chauncy Pia who provided some amazing thrills.  Brad Hook went absolutely crazy in his #66 Toyota Camry and even battled it out against David Rodrigues and John Flores for a time until giving way to Gilbert and John.  I've honestly never seen a Camry get that high up in the air on a jump and he was incredible to watch...next time, we'll tie the battery down better as it eventually looked like someone was rolling dice underneath the hood of his devastated Camry.  Chauncy put in an admirable race but had to retire on the last lap.  This was truly exciting and one of the best races we've had at the track thus far.

The third heat pitted some more big boys as Robert Young faced off against Kelii Pontin, both in heavy-weight trucks.  Robert Young's ride was absolutely monstrous and dominated the competition from the beginning. Kelii simply couldn't get around the beast as he held on for a second place finish in his superbly prepared rally truck.  Although quite exciting in the beginning stages, Bungi Grace simply couldn't get the power down long enough to stay make any moves on Kelii.  Bungi did provide some incredible jumps for the crowd which went absolutely wild on every huge chunk of air he took. 

Bungi was followed by #64 Carey Nakagawa in his white Honda CRV, which happily got through the event without much damage.  He mentioned that it was currently a daily driver which made myself cringe a bit initially.  #57 John Schuman came out in an absolutely cool looking beast of a Camaro with some big, meaty rear tires.  Geoffrey Grace did amazing for being a kid driving against a field of grown-ups...it's always a treat to see him drive.  By the time he becomes legal, he'll be a threat!

For the final heat, it was as if we had just put together a RWD Truck category.  The race was destined to be a peculiar one as Glenn Matas Jr jumps the gun early, but the other competitors fail to even attempt to fire back.  Kilika Bell, number zero2 hit the initial jump hard putting himself slightly out of position for the first corner, allowing both #77 Shawn & MK1 Universal Gaming's Javin Young to take second and third place respectively.  This was not to last though as Kilika impacted Shawn's front tire forcing Shawn out of the competition with a flat.  Shawn went on to limp around the track until the end of the second lap where he took it to the pits. 

Kilika must have damaged something severely as his vehicle immediately took on a much slower pace before finally petering out over the log jump.  Although Kilika pulled third, he was unable to move foward to the main heat due to his damaged vehicle giving 1st and 2nd to Glenn and Javin respectively.  Javin put on a show though by passing Glenn on the back straight before making a crucial mistake...he came around the last turn way too fast and impacted the center berm!  Being stuck for several moments gave Glenn the chance to retake his position and put on a respectable lead to finish.

So the stage was set for the final main...12 laps...12 cars in what is now becoming known as The Eliminator.  The final main is a grueling race where the toughest vehicles make it to the end.  The drivers pull numbers for their position, and then flip a coin to determine whether they're ran in normal or reverse order.  The field started off with 1st through 12 being Glenn Matas Jr followed by Andrew Char.  

Due to the draw, some of the key front runners were mired in the middle of the group...Mike Ward was in 8th place followed by Landon Paras in 9th, and John Flores in 10th.  The first lap is where the race was decided...almost immediately!  Glenn stumbled off the starting line, allowing Andrew Char to jet off into 1st place.  Glenn made a mistake, forcing the entirety of the group cocooned around him to the outside of turn 1.  Mike Ward, in a stroke of brilliance cunningly took advantage taking a tight inside line rocketing himself to 2nd place!  It was unbelievable!  

Javin felll to 9th place before finally coming in on the 3rd lap.  The battle started to rage between Bungi Grace and the zero8 Jeep Cherokee of David Rodrigues.  David was able to pass on the first lap and then took the second place until sadly retiring on the 4th lap due to mechanical failure.  Kelii Pontin made a grave mistake, spinning on the back striaght on the second lap, allowing several cars to pass. Bungi also suffered mechanical problems after vaulting his truck over the tabletop and landing hard. 

Both Peter Crouch and Landon Paras were able to take advantage, and shot up from their respective places to 4th and 5th place on the the second lap.  Peter was looking strong until being forced to retire in lap 5 after finally being passed by Landon.  John Flores and Chauncy Pia were able to make way as well after the mortally wounded car of Glenn Matas ate a wall and went off on the second lap.  MK1, Javin Young, also gave up the gauntlet on lap 3 with a damaged truck.  Kelii Pontin was able to make it till the 6th lap before pulling off track as well.

 

And now, you might have an idea why I'm conspiring to name this The Eliminator.  One by one, the vehicles started to break down after the pummeling they received.  This caused quite a foul-up as we had to throw several red flags to remove vehicles from the competition course.  By the 7th lap there were only 6 cars remaining from an initial field of 12.  6 cars eliminated in 6 laps...woe the carnage! 

As we worked to put the pieces back together we were able to start the race off again with Mike Ward in the lead on the 7th lap, followed by Landon Paras and John Flores.  Chauncy Pia took up fourth place, followed by Andrew Char and Bungi Grace who was able to come back after a red flag allowed him to swap his blown tire. 

The rest of the race was sadly uneventful as the competitors were so strung out that neither had the ability to take another position.  Even Landon Paras couldn't catch up to Mike who slowly pulled away.  Chauncy put in a valiant effort, but couldn't stay with John Flores as he yet again took another third place win while Chauncy gave ground to Andrew Char on the fourth and final lap. 

The final tally was Mike Ward in 1st, Landon Paras in 2nd, and John Flores took the final position of 3rd.  Although the main heat was quite frustrating for the field of driver's due to the constant breakdowns, it once again proved to be an enjoyable HulaCross event for our spectators.  We can't wait for the next event to be held on June 12th!

But wait, there's more!  We also held two dramatic special events!  Rally Rigs & the Demoliton Derby!  Rally Rigs started things off right with a test phase where we watched them learn and navigate the initial HulaCross course.  It was a real treat for the crowd although they were taking it easy during lunchtime portion. Thanks to this "demo" we were able to see the problems with the course and As such, the real race was pushed to the end of the day so we could modify the course. 

Once the course was set, the Rally Rigs started off with a "shotgun" start.  We lined them up 4 abreast as our flagger, Shawn waved them off to a running start.  Literally!  With Shawn out of the way, they charged the first jump across the main straight-away.  If you've ever wanted to see a Semi 3 feet off the ground in the air, well, you should have come to this event.  I have never seen a big rig fly.  In fact, at this event, there were tons of first times...and lotsa flying as previously mentioned!  It was a spectacular exhibition as they went toe-to-toe for 5 laps.  Seeing tons of metal go power-sliding around was definetly a treat.

The finale of the day came with a BANG and a CRUNCH as we kicked off the 7-man (and woman!) demolition derby!  The action started off brutally as we lined up 4 cars across from 3 in a oval filled by derelict cars posed as obstacles.  Within the first 5 seconds, two cars, the #213 and #22 car came together with a serious rear-ending.  Both drivers impacted hard and certainly felt it the next day. 

Several cars bit the dust very early on in the game, frustrating their drivers, but such is the luck of the Junkyard Demolition Derby.  #213 was out after a few moments of the heavy hit.  #22, Chad Ryan, did a huge number on #00 smashing the entire right side into a concave position.  Cheri Crouch in the #26, Peter's brave wife and the only female competitor, took a nasty hit to the driver's side (which isn't allowed!) but kept on ticking.  #187 then conked out after a few minor altercations and a severe frontal smash by Cheri. 

#00 again took another hard blow, damaging the front tire.  It wasn't until he came around a car obstacle that the tire fell off the rim of the FWD Toyota and doomed his chances of winning.  Personally, I felt bad for the guy, because he had a strong engine, but couldn't get any traction due to the blown tire!  Cheri once again, finished another car off as she rammed him into the obstacle car.

 

From then on it was an immediate war of attrition as cars gave out one by one until there stood 3 hardy champions remaining.  Jayce Young in the #11A Caddy, Cheri Crouch in the #26 Buick, and the #22 Civic driven by Chad Ryan. Cheri took some of the hardest hits, and was at one point absolutely smashed into a wall by Jayce in a brutal forced collision that sent her climbing up the concrete barrier.  Immediately following this crash, Jayce was rear-ended hard by the #22.  Chad's rear trunk was absolutely flat.  It looked like someone dropped it 100 feet onto it's back end.  Heck, it looked like the hatchback version of the Civic! 

The Caddy seemed nigh invincible for a majority of the time.  Chad repeatedly made use of smashing the other two cars with his front end, which although caused some seriously devastating hits, he eventually paid the price with a dead and battered vehicle.  The trick in the Demolition Derby is to protect your engine bay!

In the end, there were only two left...Cheri vs Jayce, who played hide and seek before coming together in a brutal rear-end smash for the both of them.  The Buick had absolutely nothing for a back-end at this point...and the Caddy looked done!  But Jayce was able to pull away, and head to safety, or so he thought before being rammed from behind causing the big Caddy to die out along the back wall. 

As one, the crowd counted him down as we called to see if he was out...Cheri gave him two hearty hits for good measure and with a wave it was over!  With a thrilling charge back to the crowd, Cheri Crouch waved her hand and emerged victorious.  As she got out of the car, she was greeted by her husband, Peter and they hugged.  Cheri looked absolutely pumped...and honestly, to me, it looked almost as if she had that flight or fight thing going on.  Once she got out of the car, it was obvious she brought the fight, over the flight!  For her efforts she won a hearty purse.  After calling her the next day to check up on her,  I was happy to hear she was fine and in great spirits, if a little sore.

And that ended this spectacular event for the month of May.  Next up is the June 12th HulaCross where we introduce some crazy moto-x fans who are going to take it to the track for exhibition run in what should be an exciting special event. In addition, a group of popular drag racers are going to show the Hula-X regulars how it's done with the Drag Racers Hula-X Exhibition! 

That's this coming Sunday, on June 12th from 10AM to 4:30PM at Kalaeloa Raceway Park!  Drivers, gates open at 8AM for you!  Come join us in what is sure to be another action packed event!  For now, a big mahalo to the winners and the rest of our competitors for putting on a fantastic show for our spectators.  Thank you once again!

HulaCross - March Results!

Sunday, Mar 13th was another incredible day of HulaCross.  Although the amount of competitors was low due to some scheduling and vehicle conflicts, the entire day was an exciting testament to how much fun HulaCross is!

As always, our competitors simply don't know what to expect track-wise when they come to the park.  In an effort to give the spectators a bit more action to watch, the entire event occurred directly before them.  We're really trying to make an effort to show the general public just how incredible HulaCross is, so this is a great start to draw them in.

With the loss of one jump came the addition of another one as well as the huge straight-away created in plain view of the spectators.  We received a ton of positive comments about this new addition, and plan to retain some semblance of it in coming events.  An effort was made to give at least 3 to 4 passing opportunities on the track to provide enough incentive to pass as well as providing everyone with a decent chance at competing for the points.  The course for this event was very demanding, and many of our drivers came out huffing and puffing at the end of their time attack and most definitely during the wheel 2 wheel.


Time Attack was faster than ever, with the top three finishers breaking the sub 1-minute barrier.  Mike Ward, once again led the charge, claiming Fastest Time of the Day with a scorching 00:55.29.  He was followed closely by an absolutely on-fire and pumped up Landon Paras who cranked out a 00:56.77 in his increasingly prepared Acura Integra.  Davin Kubo, whose car is definitely starting to resemble a typical HulaCrosser, belted out a very close 00:57.74 cementing himself in the second place position for the Championship. 

Peter Crouch, our resident Hawaii Performance Mustang member, had an incredible day, showing that a properly driven Suzuki Sidekick has a great shot at competing.  What he lacked in raw speed, he more than made up for in cornering and traction ability.  He's in 4th place for the title championship.  Our points system rewards frequent and reliable competitors...with SCCA Autocross dates conflicting with HulaCross...he might have a shot at the title if any of our top competitors fail to make our events.


As always, HulaCross Time Attack set up the Heat positions for our Hulagan Racing portion of the event.  Two heats were held that pitted the majority of our competitors...Davin Kubo opted to save his vehicle for the next Hula-X, and David Rodrigues' ride went out in typical HulaCross fashion, ie, it broke.  The rest had similar problems and were unable to compete, cutting our fields down to 6 and 5.  A new change to the ordering offered the slower competitors a chance to make it into the final Main. 

Heat 1 started with Mike Ward squaring off against Cy Thomas, Chad & Sheldon Moniz, newcomer Kalani Jaentsch, and Bobby Carrick.  HulaCross can sometimes be considered a war of attrition as beater vehicles give-way to the rough and tumble course...this heat was no exception and the top 4 moving into the final heat were Mike Ward, Cy Thomas, Kalani Jaentsch with the Moniz bros. and Bobby Carrick unable to compete in the final main.  Gilbert Valdez was competing in a "new" VW Corrado, but simply couldn't compete without more prep to his vehicle.  We expect him to return for the next event with a much-improved vehicle.


The second heat was led by our ever resourceful, Landon Paras going against Peter Crouch, John Flores, Koa Alameda, and Keahi Keliinoi.  Landon and Peter went toe-to-toe from the beginning and were able to make it to the final main.  Another amazing battle was taken up by John Flores vs. Koa Alameda.  These two went at it for the majority of the race in an exciting contest of speed and guts...with neither getting the clear advantage...that was until they collided on the back straight.  Koa was out of commission, leaving John soldiering on with a ruptured radiator and taking the top spot followed by Keahi.


The final main always causes the upset...as all the driver's pick their numbers randomly.  Peter Crouch grabbed the number one position and held it immediately against Landon Paras.  Landon, whose vehicle was constantly banging off the rev-limiter in 1st gear really had to fight for the top position, but was eventually able to eek by Peter on the straight-away thanks to his faster speed, holding it For the second time in a row, Mike Ward was relegated to the back field...but what seems as a problem for Mike, ends up being one of the most exciting moments for the crowd.  Once again, Mike battled his away from the back, passing vehicles as the opportunities present themselves. 

John Flores was limping badly thanks to his ruptured radiator...we'll never see the Saturn on the track again, that's for sure, and was passed from the onset by Mike.  John had hear though, and made it all the way to the end of the race.  Immediately, after, Mike took out Keahi on the same straight, using his AWD advantage.  Astrovans are RWD, if you didn't know, and Kalani simply showed what a RWD van can do if you hold the gas pedal down hard enough.  The van was slipping and sliding through the turns, but was eventually caught up by Mike and passed on the straight-away once again.  Cy Thomas was his usual, power-sliding self, and really gave the crowd something to cheer about...with a bit more power on the straights, his truck would be an immediate contender thanks to his driving skill.


In the end, Mike Ward was only just able to catch Peter Crouch after a tremendous effort, showing just how formidable a weapon an AWD STi is in off-road conditions.  As a side note, Mike won the Sand Drags Modified 4-Cylinder class this past weekend, too!  But the victory for Sunday went to the one and only, Landon Paras, an avid motocross rider who just happens to like doing it on 4-wheels as well.  Straight from the source, himself, Landon claims he has something special coming down the pipe for the next HulaCross.  We can't wait to see it.  Final placement was Landon Paras, Mike Ward, and 3rd place went to Peter Crouch who has been one of our staunchest supporters.  Here's a big shout-out to Poppa and his wife for joining us for each and every event as well!


We were certainly missing some of our regulars like Steven Chong, Stephen Oliberos, and Cliff Wicklund...we completely understand everyone isn't going to be able to make every event due to the wear and tear the vehicles go through.  We were pleased to see some of last year's fastest competitors, Chad & Sheldon Moniz back in action once again.  We hope we'll see them at the next HulaCross on Apr 10th! I'm personally rooting for Steve Oliberos to get his blown engine put back together as soon as possible, as he was one of our fastest competitors, and is still hanging in there in the points.

An amazing Sunday...full of excitement!

Wow...what an incredible Sunday!  As a short recap, the day got off to an exciting start as the Unlimited dragsters started off with their free runs.  What seemed like a typical morning warm-up soon turned into a display of the effects of uncontrolled speed as we had two spectacular crashes one after another. This really woke everyone up and laid down some considerable tension as people stepped up to the line to make their runs. 

The racing went down in a heads up, no-holds barred elimination grudge match amongst our competitors.  Some quick highlights include a very fast WRX driven by our avid HulaCrosser, Mike Ward taking his class win in his first time at the Sand Drags and Tom Brown taking second place after his harrowing rollover crash that morning against final winner Les Souza, and our 4WD Unlimited class was taken by Jeremy Moniz in his "Showtime" dragster.  Kapena was on-hand with a great set, including our hilarious MC, Rodney Villanueva, and all had a great time as the racing went down in exciting fashion.

Hula-X - Fantastic video of the final race!

You have to watch this awesome roof cam view of Mike Ward in the final heat...he goes from 8th place all the way up to second! Simply awesome view of the Hula-X event! It was so exciting to watch!
