Mud Drags - Sept 1st, 2013

I'm back at Kalaeloa Raceway Park within hours of leaving here after the previous night's Stock Car and HulaCross action. It had been a wild and wooley night with all kinds of action and a little carneage to go along with it. This is only the second Mud Drag event here at KRP and the previous one had been during the daytime so it'll be different for/better for the drivers and spectators. Mud Drag racing, being seldomly run is an event combined of Mud Drag Purists as well as some spill over of the spectators and competitors of the Sand Drag series. I see lots of familiar faces as well as folks whom I've never met and vehicles that I've never seen before (which is always refreshing).

HulaCross - Race & Results - Aug 31, 2013

As a welcome change (at least to those HulaCross fans and competitors) they'll run in advance of the heat races for the stock car classes tonight. The water truck gives the track a quick spray to the unique layout the organizers have arranged for the HulaCross racers tonight. Today's layout looks nothing like the recent kidney shaped configurations and the jumps are back which should provide for some technical and precise racing. In order to work the water into the track the cars are brought out for half a dozen, or so, laps before getting the "one to go" signal from the starter. So it was time for the HulaCross heat races.

Stock Car - Race & Results - August 31, 2013

I arrive at tonight's circle track race three hours late thanks to an overturned concrete truck on the freeway that had traffic snarled up from Pearl City to Red Hill (an already notoriously slow section of the H1 Freeway. I'm releived to see that I'm not too seriously late as the heat races have yet to start. There's a small change to the schedule whereby the HulaCross division is running ahead of the circle track racing (you'll want to refer to the article in that section of the website for those results). My initial thoughts about the track are that it looks nice and tacky, but there are a few bumps that have appeared since the last event (these bumps are dealt with by the grader and roller later on throughout the evening).
